Erin grew up in Logan in northern Utah but has traveled and lived in several places throughout the world during her life. After graduating from Logan High School, she moved to Portland, OR to attend Pacific University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Psychology. During her time at Pacific, Erin completed a study abroad program in Dresden, Germany where she learned to speak German and studied European History. She also spent time as a research assistant in Zambia studying chimpanzees and learning the local culture.
After finishing a BA Erin began her professional life working with children and adolescents in a residential treatment facility in Portland. During this time, she also realized her passion for education and after 3 years returned to Pacific University to complete her Master of Education and earn a teaching license. She spent several years in the Hillsboro School District outside of Portland teaching Middle School Social Studies and Language Arts after which she took a position teaching Middle School Science in Yuma, AZ.
Erin moved to Cedar City in 2016 to be closer to her family and met her now-husband Derek shortly after. They were married in October of 2018 and have 2 dogs, Lucy and Apollo. She enjoys camping, fishing, hiking, snowboarding and generally enjoying the beautiful outdoors of Southern Utah with her husband and dogs. At Renewed Hope Ranch she has been able to continue her life’s passion for helping adolescent girls realize their own potential and find their strengths.
